Infusion Chamane du Nord - Sweet fern and Apple

Sweet fern, pearly everlasting, blueberry leaves and fruit, apple.

Most of our plants are grown, harvested, and carefully processed at Domaine Botania.

Not recommended during pregnancy.

Hot Infusion

Add 1 teaspoon of the blend to a cup of hot water (70 to 80°C).
Steep for 15 to 20 minutes, then strain and enjoy.

A longer infusion reveals the naturally sweet notes of pearly everlasting. A shorter infusion, 5 to 10 minutes, highlights the character of sweet fern.

Cold Infusion

Prepare the hot infusion as directed above, then strain.
Allow to cool in the refrigerator. Sweeten to taste, if desired.

For a refreshing herbal tea, you may add lemon or cranberry juice.

The cold infusion keeps for 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator.

Tip: Freeze the infusion into ice cubes and add them to your glass to preserve its full aromatic richness without dilution.

Chamane du Nord is inspired by my maternal grandmother, who was the herbalist of a small village in Abitibi. The woman who raised me throughout my childhood was, at the time, affectionately nicknamed the village “witch,” and she cared for both people and animals in the surrounding area.

She called me her little Tabatha, a reference to Bewitched, and often said I was her apprentice witch. She would carry me on her back as we gathered the medicinal plants she used.

When someone came to consult her, she would listen to their concerns over a cup of tea. She would then draw cards and read the tea leaves. Visitors would leave with their remedies, prepared from the plants she harvested on her land.

Chamane du Nord reveals a well-kept secret of the boreal forest through a blend of rare and lesser-known plants. In traditional herbalism, pearly everlasting flowers, recognized for their curcumin content, were associated with supporting the body during periods of inflammation. Sweet fern, traditionally used by Indigenous peoples, was valued for accompanying headaches and supporting natural defenses.

Pearly everlasting is now being studied for its antibacterial properties, including activity against S. aureus.

The use of medicinal plants is rooted in a tradition that spans thousands of years. While their benefits are widely recognized, they should be used with discernment.
